This is a case history of collaboration between PETRONAS Chemical Olefins and Dorf Ketal that improved Cracked Gas Compressor system fouling control in a C2-C3 gas cracker feed to achieve a six-year run length. The collaboration identified root causes of historical fouling problems in this system. Improved understanding of root causes resulted in changes in wash oil & wash water injection, antifoulant chemistry, injection systems and monitoring. A combination of these actions and disciplined execution led to this success.
The paper will review the history of the fouling control program, past and present to demonstrate the correlation between program design and run length results.
