Vale´s Experience

On January 2019 Vale experienced its worst incident with Brumadinho dam break. Aligned with its Core Values, Vale started a process to redesign its way of managing safety and risks. In this way of developing a new way to manage and control its industrial hazard and risks Vale decided to use as one of the main references the Risk Based Process Safety(RBPS) developed by AIChE/CCPS and world recognized successful process safety hazard and risks managements systems.
This work presents the development of the Vale corporate standard for Management of Change based on the basis of the same named element described in the RBPS of AIChE/CCPS applied to mining and ore processing activities. This work also present the current status of the implementation process elaborated for this specific end.
According to the bibliographic review and benchmark process conducted in the first part of the development of the standard on management of change, no specific strategy has been developed up to the moment and this work with the specific approach in novel.
