Modularization is a way of customizing a reaction system design, while capitalizing on economies of replication and standardization. Using standard equipment designs and transportable skid dimensions, modular designs can be made fit for purpose, scaled, or expanded as needed. Modularization can also have a significant impact on changeout times and the amount of sparing required. This presentation looks at reactor systems that lend themselves to modularization, including their benefits/capabilities as well as their limitations/disadvantages.
