Dr. Chen’s professional experience includes periods in the process industry (Lummus Corp.), a national laboratory (Brookhaven), and academia (Lehigh University). At Lehigh, he has served as Professor in Chemical Engineering, Chair of Chemical Engineering Department, and Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His research on multiphase transport phenomena has been recognized by over a dozen national and international awards, including the D.Q Kern Award, the Heat Transfer Division Award, the Thomas Baron Award and the Max Jakob Award from the AIChE. He has been a member of the Boards of the Chemical Council for Research, the AIChE, the Engineering Conferences International, and the Chemical Heritage Foundation. His degrees in chemical engineering are from The Cooper Union, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Michigan. Dr. Chen served as AIChE President in 2006.
