Dr. Murray Gray focuses his research on upgrading of heavy oil and oil sands bitumen as Director of the Centre for Oil Sands Innovation at the University of Alberta. His research contributions have been recognized by numerous awards and prizes, including the Industrial Practice Award of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering. A Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, he holds a Canada Research Chair and an NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Oil Sands Upgrading. Gray obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
