Bob Wasileski joined CCPS as Lead Process Safety Specialist in 2015. He has over 20 years of experience in manufacturing, including the production of ethylene, polyethylene, polystyrene and synthetic hydrocarbon resins. He has held roles in both process engineering and chemical process safety, working most recently at the corporate level for NOVA Chemicals, Inc. providing technical management and support in the areas of process safety, process risk management and loss prevention engineering. Bob’s expertise primarily resides in the areas of process design for loss prevention, process risk assessment, risk management to minimize loss exposures, and process safety management systems. He has served as a Director for the AIChE Safety & Health Division, and has published articles in Process Safety Progress, Chemical Engineering Progress, The Journal of Loss Prevention and Professional Safety (ASSE). In 2013, he was awarded the “2012 Process Plant Safety Symposium (PPSS) Excellence Award for the Best Paper and Presentation” at the 9th Annual Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS). Prior to joining the CCPS, Bob taught Short Courses at the annual GCPS for the CCPS and contributed towards several CCPS book publications. His CCPS book contributions include G/L for Initiating Events and Independent Protection Layers in Layer of Protection Analysis, G/L for Enabling Conditions and Conditional Modifiers in Layer of Protection Analysis, and A Practical Approach to Hazard Identification for Operations and Maintenance Workers (Concept Book). Bob holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University (a.k.a., Penn State University).
