Kathy Kas has 39 years of experience with Rohm and Haas and The Dow Chemical Company. For the first 20 years of her career, Kathy held positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing, R&D, and finance. For the past 19 years, she has dedicated her career to Process Safety. She is currently the EH&S Fellow at the Dow Chemical Company.  



As an AIChE Fellow and a CCPS Fellow, Kathy has made a number of contributions to the field of process safety.  She is a former Chair of both the Safety & Health Division and the Loss Prevention Symposium. Kathy was the co-editor for the 2014 CCPS "Guidelines for Initiating Events and Independent Protection Layers in Layer of Protection Analysis."  She was also a member of the book committees that updated "Guidelines for Investigating Chemical Process Incidents, 3rd Edition)" and wrote the new book "Guidelines for Managing Cybersecurity in the Process Industries: A Risk-Based Approach." In support of Dow’s partnership with AIChE's "Doing a World of Good" campaign, she also organized nine faculty workshops in cooperation with the Safety and Chemical Engineering (SAChE) division.   She is on the editorial board of Process Safety Progress and a member of the CCPS Technical Steering Committee and the CCPS Planning Board.



Kathy has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a MBA from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.  She is a licensed professional engineer in PA, NJ and TX and is a CCPS Certified Process Safety Professional.
