Benchmarking Risk Based Process Safety Egg (RBPS Temple + 2 Universes) Against "The Art of War"

Within the paper presented at 9th GCPS, the author identified 2 new elements/ universes, i.e. RBPS Core Value and Process Safety Cultural Communication, for CCPS RBPS temple or 4 pillars and recommended to process industry and beyond with an upgraded model, i.e. RBPS Egg.

And another new idea the author advised within that paper is that: process safety culture and management should be inherently of "the Art of War" against catastrophic process safety accidents. Within this paper, the author attempts to benchmark RBPS Egg (RBPS 4 Pillars + 2 Universes) against "the Art of War" in terms of the strategic assessment approach Sun Tzu called 5 fundamental factors, i.e. the Tao, the weather, the terrain, the leadership and the discipline, so that the results of war could be foretold and ascertained, even prior to the starting of "the war" against catastrophic process safety accidents, i.e. prior to the implementation of the process safety management system. And furthermore, the author examines the role and purpose of the ongoing industry wide process safety metrics campain, not only in light of the final chapter of "the Art of War" i.e. "On the Use of Spies" or "Espionage", but also in light of the diagnostic methodologies of the Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was deemed metaphysically of being the same with "the Art of War".

At the end, the benchmarking results are characterized with new implications in light of " the Art of Process Safety" or, more exactly, "the Philosophy of Process Safety" so that a few of recommendations are made to accommodate as the artistic or philosophical rationale for clearing the misconceptions and misunderstanding prevailing across the process industry and beyond toward the ultimate purpose, fundamental mechanism and interdependencies of the process safety management system and its elements.
