Many of the dust and powders present in industrial processes can be fuel for devastating explosions, witness the catastrophic explosion at Imperial Sugar Company, Port Wentworth, Georgia in 2008. It is therefore absolute essential for plant operators to clearly understand the explosion hazards presented by the dust and powder materials utilized in their processes, and be able to assess the level of explosion risk and how to prevent them.
