Acoustic method of leak detection has the advantage of accurate leakage location, high sensitivity, wide adaptability and short detecting time. Acoustic method has bright prospect in
practical application of long distance natural gas pipelines. However, limited by the current stage of research, the acoustic leak detection method has not been practical used widely.
As the important link to the method, the filtering method for leaky acoustic wave needs a further study. This paper is mainly focused on the filtering method, summarizing filtering methods
that have efficient effect on leaky acoustic wave. Meanwhile, in order to test the performance of all the methods, experiments are performed in the laboratory. Collecting acoustic data
to compare the advantages and disadvantages of different filtering methods. Finally, give some useful advices in the filtering method of long distance natural gas pipeline.
