Safety Instrumented Systems
In the ending of 1997, Petrobras downstream area developed an internal standard to provide guidelines to new SIS projects. During more than 10 years it was used and sometimes it was submitted to some little reviews.
Since 2006 there were started studies intended to approximate Petrobras internal SIS standard ? called N-2595 with IEC 61511 (and ANSI/ISA 84.00.01). This task leads an entire review on N-2595.
The objective of this presentation are show and discuss the main topics related to last review, published in 2009, as follows:
- SIS lifecycle;
- SIL selection methods (risk graphs and LOPA);
- New engineering documents requirements;
- Reliability calculations;
- Factory acceptance tests;
- Commissioning;
- Periodic tests,
emphasizing the criterions applied to cover design, operations and maintenance phases on Safety Instrumented Systems for refineries.
