Abstract:
Job related accidents in companies can lead to the loss of lives of companies' personnel as well as the loss of the companies' properties. In this article the job related accidents in Bandarabbas Refinery is studied and the main causes of these accidents are recognized. The causes are classified based on their intensities and frequencies. In this study we tried to show the effects of these accidents on the refinery and the cost that the refinery incurred because of these accidents. By presenting this statistics it is hoped that safety regulations are observed better than before. Below is contained a brief statistics about job related accidents and their various effects on Bandarabbas Oil Refining Company.
Since the start?up of the refinery in 1376 the number of its staff has changed a great deal and now it has more than 1200 permanent staff and about 2400 temporary staff. The study has covered the job related accidents from 1376 to1386, and it deals with the time and place of the accidents, the number of people injured, the type and case of the accidents and the intensity of injuries and the part of body injured. This statistical analysis has considered different indicators and in order to promote security in the company several statistical analysis have been done so far. During these 11 years 600 cases of accident has occurred. Of this number 0.03 percent led to death and total disability and 11.6 percent caused partial disability and 88.1 percent was recovered. During this period the amount of time wasted because of the accidents was 370 days for permanent staff and 300 days for temporary staff. Statistics shows that carelessness of the employees in operation site caused injuries to organs. Among body organs hands and fingers suffered the most injuries, with about 31.3 percent of all the injuries. Most of the events have been occurred during 7 am to 10 am, a working shift that has the highest level of activity. In addition to the above- mentioned harms, according to the statistics, these accidents cost refinery 8.1 Rials per barrel crude oil it has refined in this period.
