Corrosion under insulation is a problem many facilities experience, but it often comes as a surprise. In this paper we discuss how to design for prevention, modify for minimization and a process to assure ongoing evaluation and mitigation of all risk as an element of an overall Mechanical Integrity Management System. It also provides a practical case study of its application in a chemical plant in Brazil.
