Wetsus
Since 2011, Bert Hamelers (1958) has been the program director at Wetsus (www.wetsus.nl), the Dutch center of excellence in sustainable water technology. Within Wetsus, companies and universities cooperate in pre-competitive technology development via an industry driven research program holding 60 PhD students. Wetsus focuses on the research and development of entirely new concepts and on breakthrough improvements of existing technology.
Before joining Wetsus, Bert Hamelers was an associate professor at Wageningen University where he was leading the Bio-energy group at the department of Environmental Technology. His research has led to over 80 peer reviewed papers, 16 patents and three spin-off companies.
