Edwin Jones has been at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for 22 years, where his work has centered on the risk analysis, system engineering, and human performance of hazardous systems, including facilities, infrastructure, devices, and nuclear material management. He most recently headed the Risk and Response Management Program that focused on developing and applying capabilities to identify, analyze, and manage man-made and natural threats, hazards and risks to national security, energy systems, environment and health.
In nuclear materials management, Ed has worked with DOE/NNSA on nuclear materials clean up and stewardship, methodologies for assessing nuclear proliferation, MC&A practices, and material security and protection technologies. Prior to joining LLNL, he performed extensive work in science and engineering based projects for the U.S. Department of Defense elements, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Air Force, and Army. Ed’s education was in engineering and materials science at the University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University.
