Mike currently heads the Public Sector Business and the Business Growth Services Organizations for Bayer MaterialScience LLC. The Public Sector Business is responsible for overseeing open innovation and business development with government agencies, national labs and prime contractors for Bayer MaterialScience LLC. This includes development of proposals, contracts, grants and compliance with regulations working with all company business units in the NAFTA region. The Business Growth Services Group is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of business development programs aimed at meeting at the organization’s strategic growth initiatives. Responsibilities include university relations, open innovation, knowledge management programs and external collaboration.
He began his career at BF Goodrich in elastomer research in 1979. He transferred to Bayer (then Polysar) as part of an acquisition in 1982 as a Technical Service Representative. From 1984 to 1997, he held positions in Sales Management, Product Management, Application Development Management, and Technical Service Management for the North and South American rubber and plastics businesses. In 2001, his responsibilities were expanded to include technology development for all business units as part of the Future Business Group. In 2008, he transferred to his current position.
Mike graduated from the University of Ohio with a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He resides with his wife Sandy in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
