Business Risks of Carbon Counting

While the US did not sign the Kyoto Protocol, greenhouse gas law and regulation have developed mandating quantifications and reporting of greenhouse gases. New legal requirements for greenhouse gas emissions give rise to new business risks for all sources of greenhouse gases. However, voluntary commitments regarding greenhouse gas emissions, directly or indirectly, and carbon footprints in other venues also give risk to new areas of risk. This session introduces the new procession of carbon counting, and reviews new areas of financial and legal risks resulting from quantifying direct and indirect generation of greenhouse gas.
