Engineers, institutions, and society as a whole have an enormous challenge to meet the demand for energy with low greenhouse gas emissions at a pace and scale commensurate with greenhouse-gas emission-mitigation goals. This session explores outlooks for energy and scenarios for low carbon energy—and their economics and technologies involved—in order to better understand the nature of this grand challenge.
