Carbon Abatement for Industrial Applications
Tuesday, October 22, 2013 - 5:00pm to 5:30pm
For many years, carbon dioxide has been recovered from industrial sources by a variety of methods as a supply source to industrial gas markets for CO2 such as food & beverage, metal fabrication, oil & gas production, and others. Widespread carbon capture for GHG reduction requires a step change up in scale and down in cost. This paper will review commercial capture methods, large scale projects under way, and a new enabling technology being developed by Praxair, Oxygen Transport Membranes (OTM). The OTM is a high temperature ceramic oxygen-ion transport membrane that has the potential for a significant cost reduction in industrial capture processes using partial oxidation or full oxycombustion.
