The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a New Source Performance Standard for the Oil and Gas Sector. With the intent of reducing volatile organic carbon (VOC) emissions from various types of equipment located at well heads, booster and compressor stations, and gas plants, this rule indirectly impacts methane emissions as well. The presentation will include an overview of the rule, but will focus on efficient and innovative compliance strategies. Business strategy examples including implementing inventory management systems, obtaining federally enforceable emissions limits, and training of field personnel will be discussed. In addition, technological strategy examples such as vapor recovery towers as a method to reduce storage tank flashing emissions will also be examined.
