Commercial buildings in the US are one of biggest users of energy and thus present opportunities for implementing measures for significant energy savings. This is being achieved by the use of sensors and analytic software that can collect real-time data on how energy is being consumed. The data helps to detect common sources of energy waste in buildings including inefficient HVAC systems, unused lighting, inefficient fans, etc. It is estimated that the market for such energy-management systems in North America will grow to about $1.6 billion by 2020.
