Jon Creyts is Managing Director at Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), a pioneering clean energy think-and-do tank. At RMI, Jon manages global research and collaboration activity, personally leading initiatives on digital technologies and breakthrough innovation including RMI’s new Third Derivative global climate tech accelerator ecosystem. Jon founded RMI’s China Office, and has worked extensively with leading Chinese institutions on the profitable transition to a low-carbon future. Jon is chairman of Energy Web Foundation and board member of WattTime, digital innovators whose tools support a decentralized and decarbonized grid.
Prior to joining RMI, Jon was a partner with McKinsey & Company in the global energy practice, and one of the principal authors of the “McKinsey cost-curve” for GHG abatement. Before that, he was a designer in the energy and aviation industries, and is an alumnus of Lockheed Martin’s renowned Skunk Works prototyping facility. Jon received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
