To pay lasting tribute to the late John C. Chen, the Carl R. Anderson Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Lehigh University and AIChE’s President in 2006, the AIChE Foundation has established an endowment fund in his memory to support the leadership development of early career chemical engineers.
Throughout his career as an educator and his longtime professional service to AIChE, John was a recognized for his inspirational leadership and his steadfast commitment to the next generation of chemical engineers. To celebrate John’s passion for leadership and his lasting impact on the chemical engineering profession, the endowment will provide scholarship funds to support, in perpetuity, the leadership development training of two selected early career members of AIChE annually.
The selected young professionals will participate in an offered leadership training such as the PEAK Leadership Training Program or Leadership Equity in Engineering (LEE) Program depending upon program availability. Funding will be made available for full AIChE Annual Meeting registration. Additional funds will be made available for tailored online training opportunities throughout the year.
