Minority Affairs Community's William W. Grimes Award for Excellence in Chemical Engineering

The Minority Affairs Community presents this award in honor of William W. Grimes, the first African-American Fellow of AIChE. This award recognizes a chemical engineer's outstanding achievements in the chemical engineering profession and as a distinguished role model for minorities.

A plaque and $1,000, plus a $500 travel allowance to attend the Annual Meeting.

PresentationThe award will be presented at the Annual Meeting. The recipient is expected to provide remarks during the MAC award presentation at the Eminent Engineers Breakfast.
Nomination Instructions
This award is selected annually from nominations received by the MAC Awards Committee. A complete nomination must be submitted by an AIChE member and include the following components:


1. One (1) statement by nominator indicating nominee’s contributions to the chemical engineering profession and as a role model for younger underrepresented minority chemical engineers
2. Nominee’s CV or résumé
 

Selection criteria include:

  • The nominee is a chemical engineer.
  • The nominee has demonstrated outstanding technical, business or related achievements.
  • The nominee has voluntarily given time and effort to help increase the interest and/or performance of members of the underrepresented minority groups in science, math, engineering and related areas either in an educational or business environment.
