Adrienne Lavine, PhD, is a professor and past department chair of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dept. at the Univ. of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (Email: lavine@seas.ucla.edu). Her research addresses various aspects of heat transfer, including solar thermal energy storage, thermal energy harvesting, and thermal aspects of nanoscale and macroscale manufacturing processes. She earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Univ. of California, Berkeley. She received the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the F.W. Taylor Medal of CIRP from the International Academy of Production Engineering. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Heat Transfer and the Journal of Engineering for Industry.
