Agnès Oromí-Bosch is passionate about leveraging microbes for clinical and environmental applications. She works as an associate scientist at Felix Biotechnology, Inc. She gained expertise in microbial therapeutic development at Caribou Biosciences, Inc., where she developed a CRISPR-Cas9-based technology to edit gut bacteria and led the research for a gut-microbiota therapeutic program. She graduated with a biotechnology degree from Univ. de Lleida and then pursued microbiology research at Imperial College London. She later earned a master’s degree at the Univ. of Wageningen, specializing in applied microbiology. There, she completed her MSc thesis on engineering thermophilic microbes utilizing CRISPR-Cas9-based tools for sustainable production of chemicals. These experiences across labs in four different countries have solidified her drive to use microbial engineering to pursue innovative solutions to challenging problems.
