Ahmad Sleiti

Dr. Sleiti is an energy leader with 30 years of experience in industry and academia as expert, tenured faculty member and consultant in the fields of conventional and renewable energy systems, sustainability, energy demand and scheduling, gas turbines, generators, fuel cell systems, advanced thermal management, and refrigeration and air conditioning. Dr. Sleiti  currently holds a position of professor of mechanical engineering at Qatar University. Previously he held an associate professor positions at UNC, ERAU and UCF in USA from 2001 to 2015.  He also worked as a senior engineer, project manager and consultant for high-ranked engineering firms and R&D corporations (SIGMA, PENTA GROUP, BETA, Siemens Energy, Electrodynamics, ASHRAE and others) since 1991. Dr. Sleiti has published more than 112 peer reviewed journal and conference papers (including patents) and has delivered more than 90 presentations and technical reports.

Dr. Sleiti holds a Ph.D. Degree in mechanical engineering from University of Central Florida, USA (2004) with emphasis in energy systems and thermal sciences and two Master Degrees in Mechanical Engineering/Energy Systems (2001 and 1991). He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Florida, USA, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) by the American Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Dr. Sleiti is a member of  professional organizations: ASME, ASHRAE, AIAA, ASEE and others.

Dr. Sleiti has completed as Principal Investigator several research projects funded by US Department of Energy, NASA, White House Stimulus Funds, US Department of Defense (US Army, US Air Force and US Navy), Lockheed Martin Corporation, Siemens Energy, General Electric, ASHRAE, Electrodynamics, Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and other agencies and industries. Dr. Sleiti served as research associate and managed the research activities of Center of Advanced Turbines and Energy Research (CATER), a university-industry collaborative center between University of Central Florida and Siemens Energy. He also was a member of Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) at UNC with energy industry partners (Duke Energy, Westinghouse and others). He was recognized and awarded several awards including Energy Legend Award by the American Association of Energy Engineers, Best Researcher Award (2009-012) by UCF and UNC, Trainer of Trainers by the UN and many others.
