Dr. Alex Gupta is a researcher in the Occupational Health and Safety program at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He primarily serves as the Low-Carbon Fuel Safety Specialist in the joint EPRI-GTI Low-Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI). The LCRI aims to accelerate the deployment of low- and zero-carbon energy technologies required for deep decarbonization.
Dr. Gupta’s areas of expertise include electrochemistry, electrocatalyst development, proton exchange membrane fuel cells, materials science, corrosion, and facility/operational safety.
Before joining EPRI, Dr. Gupta was employed as a Process Engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory where he was responsible for programmatic operations involving weapons-grade plutonium. His doctoral work focused on engineering high-performance hydrogen fuel cells as well as cost-effective catalysts for water electrolysis.
Dr. Gupta has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers. He received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville in Kentucky.
