Andrew Fry is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Brigham Young University. His research is focused on advanced technologies which utilize our various fossil fuel natural resources to produce power in the most clean and efficient manner possible. Some of Andrew’s current research programs include: Advanced supercritical CO2 power cycles, zero emission coal-fired utility boilers leveraging oxy-coal combustion with maximum temperatures and elevated pressures, advanced instrumentation for combustion and gasification research, biomass / coal co-firing for CO2 mitigation and improved boiler metering and control for efficiency improvements at low load and through load ramping. Prior to his appointment as Professor BYU, Andrew was a Research professor and director of the Industrial Combustion and Gasification Research Facility at the University of Utah and worked for seven years as a Senior Engineer and then Manager of Engineering R&D at Reaction Engineering International (REI), a private consulting firm focused on solving combustion related problems in industrial and utility boilers and heaters. Andrew earned his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah in 2002 and 2006 respectively.
