Dr. Stammitti is originally from Venezuela, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering. He was an assistant professor there for 7 years, specializing in thermodynamics and heat transfer. In 2013 moved to Canada and obtained hid PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto in 2019. During his PhD Dr. Stammitti worked on several projects for processing bitumen from the Alberta Oilsands and proposed an emulsion-based technology for in-situ recovery. He was teaching assistant for thermodynamics and heat transfer courses and received the departmental teaching award in 2018.
Upon graduation, Dr. Stammitti joined Insight R&D in early 2020 where he has participated in multiple projects of process flowsheet and product development including modeling, laboratory, and pilot scale testing. His major fields of expertise include uranium yellowcake production, tailings remediation, slag atomization for abrasives production, and waste heat recovery.
Aurelio has published over 12 papers and conference proceedings. He is passionate about solving engineering problems, converting waste streams into products, and educating the next generation engineering professionals.
