Brenda Carrillo-Conde is a Senior Principal Scientist and Group Leader in the Biotherapeutics Pharm Sci – Bioprocess R&D group at Pfizer Inc. In her role, she is responsible for the design of scalable, robust, efficient, and innovative biochemical conjugation and downstream processes to support the biologics and vaccine portfolio. Brenda has 10 years of experience in all aspects of CMC product development and biomanufacturing. She has focused extensively on vaccine development, including glycoconjugate vaccines such as PREVNAR 20®, and mRNA vaccines. Brenda uses her strong technical and project management skills to conceive and develop innovative products and to proactively solve problems across multiple disciplines and cross-functional teams. Prior to joining Pfizer, Brenda was a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Iowa State University and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Mexico. Her academic research work focused on the design, engineering, and evaluation of biomaterial-based platforms, including nanoparticles and responsive hydrogels, for targeted drug and vaccine delivery.
