As the Chief Scientist for the leading space services provider Nanoracks since 2014, Dr. Carl Carruthers has directly witnessed the growing commercial demand in using the unique environment of space as a research tool. As a liaison between investigators and the Nanoracks payload operations, engineering and business development teams, he provides direct inputs to assure the current and future needs of researchers are met. Carl believes strong investment in space access with efficient and economical research hardware will accelerate the future microgravity biotech innovations.
As well as guiding 100’s of payloads at Nanoracks, Carl has been the PI of seven microgravity experiments on reduced gravity aircraft, the Space Shuttle and the ISS. When not chasing rockets, he can be found flying, backpacking, mountain climbing, or discovering new ways to escape gravity.
