Cathy Diana is responsible for leading AIChE’s Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities Management Groups as well as the overall Activities of the AIChE Foundation and Diversity & Inclusion efforts. She is also the liaison for several AIChE committees including the Societal Impact Operating Committee (SIOC), Women in Chemical Engineering (WIC), the Minority Affairs Committee (MAC), the Board of Trustees and the Compensation Committee.
As the leader for human resources, she directs staff recruitment and retention, employee relations, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, and training and development.
Diana also directs the overall activities of the AIChE Foundation. She was responsible for leading efforts to rebuild fundraising initiatives after the Institute’s major restructuring in 2003. The Major Gifts, Planned Gifts, Annual Gifts, Corporate Gifts and Grants committees have all broadened the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. These efforts have culminated in the “Doing a World of Good” campaign, which launched in late 2014 and has a goal of raising $15 million toward mission-driven programs for AIChE.
In her facilities management role, Diana was heavily involved with the Institute’s relocation to 120 Wall Street, serving as a member of the space planning task force.
Having joined AIChE in 1991 as Human Resources Manager, Diana remained with the Institute through 1998. She rejoined AIChE in 2002 to assist management with the Institute’s broad restructuring initiative.
During her five-year hiatus from AIChE, Diana was responsible for the human resources and administration functions for Jive Records, a multi-billion dollar recording and publishing company, and Sekani, a stock film and media rights company. She also started her own business, Healthmatters! a corporate wellness event and communications company.
Diana earned a degree in business and psychology at the State University of New York College of Oswego, where her coursework focused on human resource management.
