Chason J. Coelho, PhD, CSP, CFI, is a human factors, technical safety, and risk management professional with experience in aerospace, on- and off-shore petrochemical, marine, crane, manufacturing, and utility industries. He is a managing scientist in Exponent’s Human Factors practice. A cognitive neuroscientist whose research focuses on human motor control, he applies unique interdisciplinary expertise in cognitive and physical behavior to issues such as human error prevention, decision-making, human reliability, safety in design, human-machine interfacing, and ergonomics. He addresses these and other facets of human performance in routine operations, maintenance, and emergency contexts that span both process and occupational safety. He has a PhD and MS in psychology from Pennsylvania State Univ. and a BA in psychology from Univ. of California, Los Angeles.
