Darlene Steward joined the staff of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in 2007. She is a Senior Engineer in the Strategic Energy Analysis Center whose research focuses on environmental and energy systems techno-economic analysis and research in resilience, sustainability and the circular economy. Darlene emphasizes finding creative and practical solutions for reaching client goals while broadening understanding of energy systems interrelationships. Darlene holds Bachelor’s and Master’s of Chemical Engineering degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to joining NREL, she worked as a consultant developing emissions inventories and tools for environmental compliance, techno-economic assessment, and cost estimating for private industry and government clients.
