Darren Broom, Phd, is a product manager for Hiden Isochema Ltd., a leading manufacturer of analytical gas and vapor sorption instrumentation. He holds a BSc in applied physics from Staffordshire Univ., U.K., and an MSc in computational physics and PhD in materials physics, both from Salford Univ., U.K. After completing his PhD, he spent three years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the European Commission’s Institute for Energy in the Netherlands, before returning to the U.K. to join Hiden Isochema in 2007. In 2011, Springer published his book, Hydrogen Storage Materials: The Characterisation of Their Storage Properties in its Green Energy and Technology series. He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Materials Research Society (MRS), and is on the editorial board of the open-access Elsevier journal Heliyon. His current research interests include the measurement and modeling of gas adsorption by nanoporous materials for gas storage and separation applications, with a focus on improving the accuracy and reproducibility of experimental data.
