As the Process Development Manager for LanzaTech, Darren is responsible for leading a team of engineers to develop process improvements, complete technoeconomic assessments, evaluate new process technologies, and collaborate with R&D teams to accelerate the transition of technology out of the lab and into the field. Prior to leading the Process Development team, Darren spent two years managing a team of Process Engineers and Global Services Engineers to deliver basic engineering design packages and assist with on-site commissioning and startup of global gas fermentation facilities. Darren started his professional career as a Process Engineer with POET in 2013 supporting plant operations and executing continuous improvement projects. In 2016, Darren transitioned to an Engineering Manager role at POET-DSM’s Project Liberty 20 million gallon per year cellulosic ethanol plant. Darren also served as the Cellulosic Plant Manager prior to joining LanzaTech in 2020. Darren received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
