David B. Spicer received a bachelor of mechanical engineering with honors from the Univ. of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. In 1979, he joined the Altona Petrochemical Company, a 50/50 Exxon/Mobil joint-venture ethylene plant near Melbourne, Australia. Throughout his career, Spicer has worked in a variety of plant support, technology development and commercialization, project design, and project start-up roles across ExxonMobil’s olefins business. Spicer has authored several patents in the fields of cracking furnace design, burner design, and olefins plant configuration. He currently holds the position of chief engineer of basic chemicals and light hydrocarbons at ExxonMobil.
