David Beck, PhD, is a research assistant professor of chemical engineering at the Univ. of Washington. He is also the Director of Research for Life Sciences and Senior Data Science Fellow with the Univ. of Washington eScience Institute, and adjunct research assistant professor of environmental and occupational health sciences. His research is at the intersection of data science, chemistry and biology including *omics based approaches to bioprospecting and metabolic engineering, molecular simulation, analysis and design, and workflow tools for scalable reproducible computational research. Application spaces for his work include health, energy, and the environment. He has a BS in computer science from Drexel Univ. and a PhD in biomolecular structure and design in the department of medicinal chemistry from the Univ. of Washington.
