Derek received his B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego. Currently, he is an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the Jewett Lab where he develops cell-free platforms for understanding and engineering proteins involved in natural product biosynthesis and conjugate vaccine production.
