Dr. Winikus holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Alfred University, and a MS and PhD in Computer Engineering from Michigan Technological University. She is Assistant Professor of Teaching at the University at Buffalo with research efforts in Engineering Education and Outreach. Her efforts for a diverse, inclusive and equitable community include being the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Diversity and K-12 Outreach Coordinator, overseeing the department youth outreach program, and contributing to efforts to infuse ethics into computer science courses. At the university level she is a member of the Faculty Committee for the Women in Science and Engineering and faculty advisor to the student section of the Society of Women Engineers(SWE). Jenn is a life member and active leader in SWE, and has been a member of the ASEE LGBTQ+ Advocacy in STEM Virtual Community of Practice since early 2020.
