Joan Schork is a Principal Consultant with Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. She brings over 30 years of experience in the Industrial Gases and Chemicals industries to her current work in Process Safety. Dr. Schork’s professional background is quite diverse with time spent in technical and management positions within Process Safety, Design Engineering, R&D, Gas Plant Operations, and Chemical Manufacturing. Immediately prior to joining BakerRisk in 2014, Dr. Schork was employed by Air Products and Chemicals as the Chief Engineer - Process Safety. As the corporation’s most senior Process Safety engineer, she was the technical lead of the global Process Safety community, served as a technical advisor to functional and business executives, and had global responsibility for the quality of the Process Safety Analysis Methods and Tools. Areas of expertise include safety practices related to: oxygen, fluorine-containing compounds, flammable gases including H2, toxic gases such as CO, asphyxiants, the transport and bulk storage of liquefied gases, venting of dense gases, and flammable and toxic gas pipelines.
