Ellen is Senior Resident Fellow for the Climate and Energy program at Third Way, a think tank in Washington DC. She established her career working as chief global economist at Ford Motor Company, providing insights and analysis on the global economy and finance. Her responsibilities included strategic analysis and business planning, as well as macroeconomic analysis and forecasting as input assumptions for production programming and long-term projections.
As Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Commerce during the Obama Administration, she worked on several initiatives improving data quality, measuring the digital economy, and expanding workforce development, manufacturing, trade, and investment. Ellen also supported the development of the Administration’s economic forecast and represented the Administration at the OECD Economic Outlook meeting.
She earned her master’s degree in international development and Ph.D. in economics at Clark University, and just concluded a 6-year term on the Board of Trustees.
