Erik received a PhD degree in Chemical & BioProcessing from the Delft University of Technology (TUD) in the Netherlands. He joined DuPont in April 1998 as a Principal Investigator in the CR&D Particle Technology Group. In 2007 Erik started working for DuPont Protection Technologies on the development of nanofiber based membranes. Erik is currently focusing on membrane process development for DuPont’s Biomaterials and Bio Fuel businesses. In that role he performs benchtop and pilot scale testing, and writes basic data packages for scale-up and commercialization. The membrane applications range from pretreatment of feed streams, to product recovery and purification, and end-of-pipe waste treatment. He has also been trained on compliance of GMP in food and pharma operations. He has been working on novel membranes development with DuPont Central Research (Nano-fibers, Biomimetics, carbon nanotubes, surface modification). He holds 8 patents. Erik travels globally and is involved in many Food and Industrial Biotechnology projects.
