Frank received his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His research interests include heat transfer, pool and flow boiling, energy systems analysis, frost/defrost mechanisms and embedded thermal management of elctronic devices and systems. He is an ASME Life Fellow, Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science and has received awards such as the ASME Dedicated Service Award and the 2019 Donald Q. Kern Award.
