Frauke is a bio-chemical engineer with a strong background in microbial metabolism and cellular electron transfer. She holds a Diploma in bio-chemical engineering from The Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, and a PhD from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
Her current research at Stanford University focuses on microbial electrosynthesis, a process that uses electricity to directly steer microbial redox reactions. She is particularly interested to deploy this exciting concept for the development of sustainable production processes of chemicals and fuels from CO2 and renewable energy.
