Gautam G. Yadav, PhD, is the director of advanced battery development at Urban Electric Power (UEP) (Email: gautam@urbanelectricpower.com), where he leads efforts to commercialize a high-voltage MnO2-Zn battery. Yadav previously worked as a senior scientist at the City Univ. of New York (CUNY) Energy Institute, where he led the advancement of highly energy-dense aqueous batteries based on manganese dioxide and zinc. He is the primary inventor of the reversible second-electron MnO2 technology, an advanced high-capacity MnO material, nanostructured Zn anodes, and the high-voltage (2.45–2.8 V) MnO2-Zn battery. Yadav earned his PhD in chemical engineering from Purdue Univ., where he received the Magoon Award for teaching. He also received the 2019 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Chemistry award.
