Greg H. Rau

University of California, Santa Cruz, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

For the past 35 years Dr. Rau has been actively engaged in carbon biogeochemistry research. Since 1998 this work has come to include methods of CO2 management, building on geochemical processes that naturally consume this gas.  These concepts for CO2 mitigation have been a finalist in the 2008 ConocoPhillips Energy Prize, and recently won two categories of MIT’s 2013 Climate CoLab contest. He is also listed as inventor on three US patents.  Currently a Senior Research Scientist at UCSC and a Visiting Scientist at LLNL, he resides with his wife, Vreni, in Castro Valley, California.
