Houman Savoji, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in the Laboratory for Functional Tissue Engineering within the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (IBBME) at the Univ. of Toronto. He received his PhD in biomedical engineering from the Univ. of Montreal. His primary research interests are related to advanced manufacturing with particular emphasis on micro- and nanofabrication of functional biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. His goal is to design, develop, and implement novel functional biomaterials and devices/platforms using emerging engineering technologies, including 3D printing, microfluidics, and electrospinning. He has received several scholarships and awards during his graduate and postdoctoral studies, including the CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship (2018), FRQNT Postdoctoral Fellowship (2017), FRQNT Star Researcher Award (2015), FRQNT Merit Doctoral Research Scholarship (2012), and the Jane and Frank Warchol Fund of the Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) Foundation (2014). He has authored over 15 journal papers and presented more than 40 oral and poster presentations at international and national conferences.
