István Heckl is an associate professor at the Univ. of Pannonia (Veszprém, Hungary; Email: heckl@dcs.uni-pannon.hu), where his research interests include process synthesis, optimization, separation network synthesis, and sustainability. He lectures on C programming, C++ programming, elements of the theory of computation, and other topics, and is the leader of several research and development projects (including one that increased the planning period for the major Hungarian oil company’s product pipelines from 5–6 days to one month). He has supervised 11 BSc and MSc theses. Heckl studied information technologies at the Univ. of Pannonia and got his PhD under the supervision of Ferenc Friedler in 2007.
